The 10 mile race took athletes through the bluebell woods before heading out onto the open countryside of the South Downs for some breath taking views. Local runner James Walker from Steyning AC held off a number of top regional runners to win in an impressive 1:00:02 on a tough course; 29 seconds ahead of Tone Zone Vet runner Stephen McLoughlin. The performance of the day was from Sharon Elder from Aldershot, Farnham District AC who was 6th overall in 1:09:18. Natasha Swan from Seaford Striders was second in 1:11:46. The 10km race remained within the bluebell woods and saw a bunch of triathletes in the main breakaway group led by Tuff Fitty Tri Clubs Christian Faires with Team REP’s Tom Jackson not far off the pace. However it was Andy Morgan-Lee from Thames Hare & Hounds who made his presence felt even for the lead mountain biker as he powered his way to finish the tough course in 36:15. The win was a month after coming second at the Vet BMAF Cross Country Championships. First female was one of triathlon’s rising stars Sophie Coleman, who ran for fun and emerged as a convincing winner ahead of second place Jenny Hall from Crawley.
