Steyning Duathlon + Childrens Fun Run

THE EVENT IS NOW FULL – THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY (20:20 hours 30/03/10)

We hope your training has been going well this winter and are looking forward to the race – please remember the races start at 9am this year!

Race details and maps can be seen on the events page of our new website and we’ll shortly be adding the final competitor list and whether you’re in Wave 1 or Wave 2.  We’re afraid this is not open to negotiation as the timings for this event are crucial and we need to be sure the course is clear of runners before the first cyclists return.

Some of the roads on the cycle course have deteriorated like most in the UK after a harsh winter. Most have been repaired, although there are one or two areas to watch out for and in particular a section on the northbound carriageway of the A24 just south of the Washington Roundabout (A283).  This is a really fast section where there are large areas that need to be ridden with caution.  West Sussex Highways Authority had planned to resurface this section during the last two weeks, but this will now start on the 6th April.  We will try and mark the areas affected as best we can, but would advise all competitors to recce the cycle course if possible.

Registration will be in the Cuthman Centre which is part of the Leisure Centre complex between 7am and 8:30am.  Race briefing will be in the Transition Area at 8:40am – both waves need to be there for the briefing!

Children’s Running Races on Easter Monday

After the cancellation of the children’s aquathlon and Easter races on the High Street, our colleagues at Steyning Athletic Club have decided to hold a running race for children on Easter Monday 5th April.  The races take place in Steyning Cricket Field (The Memorial Field) at 10.30am which is directly behind the Transition Area.  So if you’re racing or watching the duathlon why not bring the kids down.  There will be 2 distances – 600m for the under 6’s and 1km for ages 6-16.  The entry fee is only £1 with medals for all finishers.  Please arrive at the Cricket Field 15 minutes before the start of the race to collect your race number.  Go to www.steyningac.co.uk for further details

We hope you all enjoy the race and if you’re looking to qualify for the Europeans good luck!
