The forecast for Sunday looks pretty good at the moment, very light northerly winds, light cloud and sun and 20 degrees. The northerly wind should ‘flatten’ the sea to some degree and with light winds should make the swim almost perfect – things can change quickly though so keep an eye on the forecast. The sea temperature is slightly less than 19 degrees although this was taken from the weather station 2 miles out at sea. The actual temperature will be much warmer inshore and we’ll announce what it is on the day. We’d prefer you to all wear wetsuits if possible but at this stage it is unlikely to be compulsory.

Richard John (Hair & Beauty Products) has also stepped up to the mark for the second year. This year, together with The All-Beef Burger Company (www.allbeefburgerco.co.uk) they have offered half price on the newly launched Birdman Burger with free fries! This is no ordinary burger place though, this is a gourmet burger bar in Royal Arcade opposite the Pier and it’s well worth a visit after all your hard work! Not content with that they’ll also be providing a men’s haircut voucher and some free Clarins products for men and women.
Part of the proceeds of the Birdman Burger will also go to raising money for a local paralysed teenager George Dowell.
Just a reminder the 2km race will be starting at 1:30pm and the 1km at 1:40pm. Start times are not flexible as we need to be clear of the water by 2:30pm, so please make sure you leave plenty of time to arrive and park – IT WILL BE BUSY!
