Birdman 1km Start 2011Provisional race results for the 1km & 2km swims can now be seen HERE.  It was great to see so many spectators supporting the event with some really fast times this year.  The stand out performances were GB pentathlete Gareth Evans who clocked 18:42 for the 2km race and top national swimmer 14 year old Chloe Pollard from Eastbourne, who finished second overall in 19:52.  In the 1km race Alec Patterson from Olney Multisport dominated the race to win in 10:17 as did Nicky Carsons in the women’s race.

Birdman Swim|Worthing Pier|Sunday 14/8/11

Birdman Start 2010 With just over a week to go there are still entries available for the 2km and 1km Birdman swims at Worthing, West Sussex. Online entry closes on Thursday 11th August at 5pm. Race details and maps can be seen via the event schedule tab above (Worthing Birdman Swim).  The 2km race will be starting at 10:15am and the 1km at 10:20am.  Start times may be flexible.  The actual International Birdman Rally starts at midday from the end of the Pier so why not grab some lunch, sit on the beach and enjoy the ‘aviators’!  A competitor list will be added on Monday and there will be a further update later in the week after the online closing date.  The current sea temperature is 18.8 degrees, but this will vary during the week and may reach 19-20 degrees dependent on the weather. Wetsuits are likely to be optional although we would prefer competitors to wear one.
