This is a new event for 2008 and part of the towns River Revival; an action-packed day with a variety of water-based activities for all the family. Deep-sea fishing fans will be able to join in the ‘BIG FISH’ competition setting off to sea in the morning, there is a bathtub race, Water Zorbing, BBQ, Steel Band, RIB trips, Kayak Race, RNLI search & rescue demonstration, Royal Navy, Jet Ski demonstration, Face painting and other bands all in aid of the RNLI. So why not come and join us and race in front large crowds on closed roads. Look at the River Revival Timings for further details.

The event has been sanctioned by the British Triathlon Federation and is fully supported by the Harbour Master and RNLI who are keen to encourage safe recreational use of the river. However, it is not advisable to swim in the river without suitable safety cover as there are extremely strong currents at certain times of the day.  There is a 30 minute period of ‘slack’ tide when there river is at it’s slowest………this is when you’ll be swimming.  Littlehampton Marina is set on the River Arun; Britain’s second fastest flowing river.  Wetsuits are highly recommended but the water temperature will be checked prior to the start of the race. 
The swim will start from the RNLI Station at high water and go DOWNSTREAM before circumnavigating a buoy in the middle of the river.  Then it’s UPSTREAM to the footbridge at the Arun View Pub and return to the RNLI Sation(1km). The Harbour Master will control river traffic and we will have our usual safety canoes.  Transition will be in the RNLI Station.  The 10km run will follow the river before running across the footbridge and along Ferry Road eventually reaching the village of Climping.  Once on the beach the run will take athletes along the local nature reserve (Arun Sand Dunes) before rejoining the river.  Local café’s and pubs on the quay will be open for refreshments.
