Congratulations to everyone who competed at this inaugural event; the feedback so far has been very positive. Race results have been uploaded HERE. Colin Dixon set an impressive inaugural course record with 1:58:39 and made it three wins on the bounce following wins at our Arundel Lido and Worthing Triathlons. Not far behind, in 8th place overall, was Claire Danson from ONE Triathlon RDS in 2:15:33. First veterans were Robert Searle (Bognor Regis) and Zoe Tetlow from Horsham Amphibians Triathlon and first Supervets (over 50), were Colin Chambers from Mid Sussex Tri (6th overall) and Karen Wigmore, also from Horsham Amphibians Triathlon. The new Pic2Go Facebook live photo uploads has gone well; FREE unlimited downloads at www.sussexsportphotography.com should be ready later today or tomorrow HERE.
We’re the first event in the UK to try out a new barcode system (Pic2Go) which automatically uploads race images to Facebook. As with all REP events we offer free unlimited race day images via www.sussexsportphotography.com. Athletes can now pre-register their race number HERE and images will be streamed live to their Facebook account during the race! The current Met Office forecast for Sunday looks good for racing; cloudy but dry and warm with light winds. Air temperatures are likely to be 17-20 degrees and the water temperature is 18.5 degrees. There will be a limited number of entries on the day available at Saturday’s registration.
Race details and maps for next week’s event can be seen HERE. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE RACE DETAILS. Racking is only available on Sunday but registration is open on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Top designer Smeezer.com has created another great T Shirt for the event. Entry fee also includes FREE unlimited image downloads from our partners Sussex Sport Photography and a Clif Bar. Geared Bikes from Chichester will be at the event together with the Physio Fitness & Wellbeing massage team. The Waterside Tea Garden & Bistro will be open early for the event. They’re in a great position right on the banks of the river by the bridge and swim start/finish. Visit them at www.thewatersidearundel.co.uk
Race results for the SPRINT, STANDARD & RELAY have been uploaded HERE. Congratulations to Ruth Hutton (South London Harriers) for leading the women home for only second time in the events history by being the first across the line in the Man v Woman challenge and winning £100. Her time of 2:18:35 was enough to see off the ever reliable Colin Dixon who couldn’t quite make up the distance, but still clocked a very impressive 1:59:40 despite coming off his bike. Paul Blackmore (Team THE) won the Sprint Tri convincingly in 1:11:45 as did Jenny Philips (Petersfield Tri Club) in 1:23:15. Physio Fitness and Wellbeing Race Team dominated the Relay Tri and made it clean sweep in all REP Triathlons this year – can any Relay Team beat them? Further details in our race report later. FREE unlimited downloads are available at www.sussexsportphotography.com soon.
