Worthing has been selected once again to host one of the qualification races for the 2016 ETU Standard Distance Triathlon European Championships; the ETU have yet to announce the location of the European event. Automatic qualification will be awarded to the first 4 eligible athletes in each age group. If you intend to qualify at the Worthing Triathlon you must register your intent to qualify by 5pm Friday 24 July 2015. For more details follow this links on the BTF website. Jon Ridgeon, British Triathlon’s Director for Major and National Events was delighted to get the 2015 calendar confirmed, commenting: ‘British Triathlon is delighted with the strong interest expressed for hosting our major events in 2015 and we believe that next year’s calendar sees a really exciting and diverse set of event venues for athletes to choose from. With the number of active triathletes increasing every year, these events will all be really vibrant and highly competitive races.”

Congratulations to Michael Hobbs from Crawley AC and Mel Frazier from Gravesend Road Runners who won the Half Marathon in 1.27.40 and 1.28.14 respectively; Mel was a very impressive third overall. The 10km Trail Run was won by David Smyth from Lewes in 42:59 and the ladies were led home by Jo Hesketh from Steyning AC in 48:01. 14 year old Alec Goldstone from Etchingham won the 5km Fun Run in 20:15 and Maisie Ledbetter from Worthing & District Harriers took the honours in 23:38 for 6th overall. Congratulations to Chloe Pollard who set a great new course record for the 3.5km swim in 42:00. 49 swimmers went under the hour for the 3.5km swim and 50 in the 2.5km swim. First male in the 3.5km swim was Andy Tester (STA) in 45:53 and in the 2.5km swim Team Otter ran away with the prizes by taking 5 of the top 6 places with Chris Sutton leading the way in 32:37 and Michelle Senecal in 33.28. Special mention goes to Hawaii based visiting swimmer Miki David from Oahu Club Masters who finished 4th overall to be first female over 40.
